Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg potato(s), floury
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 m.-sized onion(s)
- Milk, as needed
- 150 g butter
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
First, clean and peel the potatoes. Then cook them in a pressure cooker for about 15 minutes or in a regular pot for 25 minutes. During this time, peel and dice the onion. Sauté them in about 50g of hot butter until translucent. Remove the onions from the pan and add them to a small bowl with the butter. Melt the remaining butter over low heat and keep warm. Do not overheat or burn the butter, otherwise the mashed potatoes will taste bitter. After cooking, press the potatoes into a sufficiently large bowl using a potato ricer. Fold in the melted butter and onions. Adjust the consistency of the mashed potatoes with warm milk as needed. Finally, season with salt. Please remember that the butter is the main flavor carrier. If you prefer less butter, you can reduce the amount.
