Onion bread with fried onions and buttermilk

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 ½ tbsp salt
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • 225 g fried onions

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Put the flour in a bowl. Crumble the yeast over it and mix in. Mix in the salt. Stir in the buttermilk. Knead in the fried onions. The longer you knead, the smaller the onion pieces will become. The dough should be nice and sticky, so the onion bread will be moist after baking. Now pour the dough into either a greased loaf pan or a silicone loaf pan rinsed with cold water and place it in a cold oven. Set the oven to 50 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat) and let the dough rise for 15 minutes. Then turn the oven up to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake for about 45 minutes, until the onion bread is golden brown.
