Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g onion(s), diced, frozen
  • 100 g flour
  • ½ tsp, leveled baking powder
  • 1 pack of cheese, grated, Gouda or Emmental, 200 – 250 g
  • 1 pack of lean ham cubes, 200 – 250 g
  • 200 g whipped cream
  • 3 eggs, size L
  • salt and pepper
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Grease a 26cm springform pan. In a bowl, mix the frozen diced onions with the flour, baking powder, cheese, and ham. Spread the batter in the pan. In a separate bowl, whisk the cream and eggs, season generously with salt and pepper, and pour evenly over the onion mixture. Bake the cake in the center of the oven for 35 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack. I bake the onion cake in a silicone mold, which releases it perfectly from the pan.
