Onion gratin

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 300 g onion(s), finely sliced
  • 2 tsp, leveled turmeric
  • 1 tsp, heaped pepper, green, pickled, drained, coarsely crushed
  • 1 tsp, heaped peppercorns, pink, pink, dried, roughly crushed
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 pinch(s) black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 dl cream, in Switzerland possibly half cream
  • some butter, for the molds

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

goes well with pan-fried dishes

Mix the onions with all types of pepper, turmeric, nutmeg, and salt. Place them in two buttered ramekins and flatten. Pour the cream over the onion gratin. Bake in the center of an oven preheated to 240°C for 15-20 minutes. It goes very well with pan-fried meat or chicken thighs. It’s also delicious with Vaudois sausages.
