Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 25 g butter
  • 400 g onion(s), cut into very thin rings
  • 1 liter of milk
  • Salt
  • e.g. Parmesan, freshly grated
  • n. B. Croutons

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onions, cover, and simmer over very low heat for 30 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Meanwhile, heat the milk in another saucepan until just below boiling point. Add the milk to the onions and season with salt. Simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes, taking care not to let the soup boil over. Ladle into a soup tureen and serve with Parmesan cheese and croutons.
