Oreshki: Russian Witch Hazel

For the nutshells:

  • 2 Pc. Eggs
  • 120 g Sugar
  • 400 g Flour
  • 250 g Butter
  • 1 tsp Baking powder

For the filling:

  • 400 g Caramelized condensed milk
  1. Separate the eggs.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with 100 grams of sugar and set aside.
  3. Beat the egg whites until stiff and also set aside.
  4. Put the flour in a mixing bowl and knead in the butter in cubes, the baking powder and the remaining sugar with your hands until a slightly falling but even dough is formed.
  5. Fold in the egg whites and egg yolk and sugar mixture.
  6. Press the dough evenly thick into walnut molds.
  7. Bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes, then remove the bowls from the molds.
  8. Pour the caramelized condensed milk into a walnut bowl with a clear supernatant and press on a second until all of it is used up.
