Oven-baked leg of lamb with honey

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 leg of lamb (approx. 1.7 kg)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ orange(s), grated peel and juice
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • salt and pepper
  • oregano
  • Thyme

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Rub the leg of lamb well with olive oil, salt, pepper, and herbs. Place it in a baking dish, cover with aluminum foil, and roast in the oven for 1 hour. Then reduce the oven to 220°C, remove the aluminum foil, and continue roasting for 30-60 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the leg has a golden brown crust. Mix the grated orange zest and orange juice with the honey. Brush the mixture over the leg and roast for another 10 minutes, covered with aluminum foil. Serve with potatoes, rice, or pasta.
