Pasta with ham and cheddar sauce

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 300 g pasta (e.g. fusilli or penne)
  • 200 g ham, cooked
  • 700 ml milk
  • 300 g Cheddar cheese
  • some garlic – herbs – butter (homemade) or butter
  • 1 ½ tsp cornstarch, if necessary
  • 1 handful of chives
  • some pepper (freshly ground)
  • some salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

without cream

Cook pasta according to package instructions. Grate cheddar cheese and set aside. Cut ham into small pieces and toss in garlic and herb butter. Add pasta and alternate between milk and cheddar. The sauce should now be slightly thinner but thicker. If it’s too thin, add cornstarch and bring to a boil briefly. Season with freshly ground pepper and salt and garnish with chives. Variations: onions, broccoli, smoked ham, or chili.
