Simple, quick snack for on the go or for a child’s birthday party

These pizza dogs are based on my favorite pizza dough recipe from Ela*. Mix flour, dry yeast, oil, salt, sugar, and lukewarm water. Knead the dough, cover, and let stand for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Celsius (480 degrees Fahrenheit) top and bottom heat. Form 9 balls from the dough, roll each one out into an oval flatbread, and spread with about 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce. Place the wiener on top, sprinkle with grated cheese, and close the pizza dog. It works best if you fold the dough up along the short sides, the sausage ends, and then fold the other two sides over. Briefly press the dough down and place the pizza dogs seam-down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. I always use jarred wieners because the skin is softer, but you can also use other sausages. You can also use other cheeses or an expanded filling, such as fried onions.
