Pointed cabbage with bacon and red onion

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 pointed cabbage
  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 3 pinches of nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of black cumin
  • 100 ml cream or Cremefine
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • some salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Halve the pointed cabbage lengthwise, cut into strips, then dice. Place in a sieve, trim, and shake dry. Peel and dice the onion. Stack the bacon slices on top of each other and cut into small strips. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the bacon and onion for 4 minutes. Add the pointed cabbage and fry for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat, add the cream, and season with nutmeg, salt, pepper, and caraway. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, adding more seasoning if desired. Served here with a fillet of Victoria sea bass.
