Potato and swede gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g potatoes, mostly waxy
  • ½ turnip(s)
  • Butter for the mold
  • herb salt and pepper
  • 150 ml cream
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 1 onion(s), chopped
  • 1 apple, chopped
  • 2 tsp marjoram
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil (rapeseed oil)

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Peel the potatoes and cut into 2-3 mm thin slices. Peel the swede, quarter it, and also cut it into 2-3 mm thin slices. Grease a shallow casserole dish with butter and place the swede and potatoes in it, alternating layers. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the cream to a boil, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and simmer for 5 minutes over low heat. Pour the cream into the dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 35-40 minutes. Peel and chop the onion and apple, and fry in a pan until golden brown. Add the marjoram. Remove the gratin after 20 minutes and spread the apple and onion mixture on top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Return the casserole dish to the oven for another 10-15 minutes.
