Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 250 g potatoes
  • 250 g carrot(s)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 piece(s) of smoked pork
  • a little butter
  • salt and pepper
  • n. B. water

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

according to grandma’s recipe book

Lightly fry the smoked pork and onions in a pan. Once the smoked pork is nicely browned on all sides, add enough water to cover the entire pork and bring to a boil. In the meantime, peel and quarter the potatoes and carrots, and add them to the smoked pork. If there isn’t enough liquid in the pan to cover everything, add a little more water. Let the whole thing simmer until the carrots and potatoes are soft enough to mash. Remove the smoked pork from the pan. Drain the liquid into a container and mash the potatoes and carrots with a potato masher. If desired, add any reserved liquid to the potatoes and carrots. Then season to taste with salt and pepper. If desired, you can add other spices as well. Serve with the smoked pork.
