Preserve wild garlic by drying

You can keep wild garlic in the fridge for a maximum of two days. But there are simple ways to extend the shelf life of wild garlic. Regardless of which method you choose: Make sure that it really is wild garlic. Do not confuse wild garlic with its poisonous doubles, such as lily of the valley or autumn crocus.

  • Wild garlic will keep much longer if you dry it.
  • To do this, tie small bouquets of the herbs and hang them upside down in a dry place.
  • If you chop the dried wild garlic and keep it dry in a well-sealed container, it will keep indefinitely.
  • However, wild garlic loses a lot of its aroma when dried.

Preserve wild garlic by freezing

You can extend the shelf life of wild garlic by up to a year if you freeze it.

  • Remove the stems and finely chop the wild garlic before freezing it in portions.
