with ham and leek
Cut the white and light green parts (up to the large leaf bases) of the leek stalks into pieces (as long as half a slice of ham, about 10 cm). Halve these pieces lengthwise. Roll each leek in half a slice of ham, then wrap in puff pastry. Bake in a casserole dish for about 1/2 to 3/4 hour at 150°C. Whisk the sour cream with the milk and egg, and season to taste. Pour this mixture between the rolls, not on top. Sprinkle the rolls with cheese, and bake for another 1/4 hour at 180°C (this will give them a nice brown on top). We prefer a half-and-half mix of mozzarella and Gouda cheese. Two rolls per person make a simple lunch for four; we like to serve them with a green salad.
