always delicious – not only during Advent

Rub flour with baking powder and butter, knead with egg yolk, powdered sugar, rum, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest, and let rest in a cool place for about 1/2 hour. Bring red wine to a boil, cover, and let steep with the spices for about 10 minutes, then strain. Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Roll out dough to about 1/2 cm thick, cut out hearts, place on baking sheets lined with baking paper, and bake until light golden brown. Let cookies cool. Beat egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form, then mix in enough wine to make a spreadable mixture. Glaze cookies and let dry thoroughly.
