Quench boiled eggs – does that help?
- Once you’ve cooked the perfect egg, all you have to do is peel it. To make this easier, the eggs are often quenched.
- Unfortunately, quenching has no effect on peeling at all. Only age plays a role here. Fresh eggs are much more difficult to peel than an egg that is already a week old.
Are quenched eggs harmful?
- The Bavarian consumer advice center has now even warned against quenching the eggs. The cold water can quickly crack the shell. If you eat the egg on the same day, that’s not a big problem.
- Because they can keep boiled eggs in the fridge for up to four weeks, chilling can quickly become a health hazard. If the shell bursts, germs can enter the egg more quickly. in this case, the eggs spoil much faster.
