Quark casserole with oranges

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g quark, 20%
  • 50 g semolina
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 75 g butter
  • 100 g sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest, grated
  • 1 tbsp orange peel, grated
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Butter, for the casserole dish
  • 4 oranges
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Grease a baking dish with butter, peel the oranges (removing the white pith), slice them, and arrange them in the dish. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat). Beat the quark until smooth. Beat the butter with the sugar, egg yolks, and lemon and orange zest until fluffy. Mix the semolina with the baking powder and stir into the quark along with the cream. Beat the egg whites with the salt until stiff peaks form and carefully fold into the quark mixture. Spread the mixture evenly over the orange slices and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Sprinkle the quark casserole with cinnamon sugar before serving.
