Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 can sauerkraut, (wine sauerkraut) 800 g
  • 2 cans of tomatoes, in pieces of 400 g each
  • 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
  • 500 ml meat broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 dash of olive oil
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 3 dashes Tabasco (red)
  • Salt
  • Pepper, black from the mill

Cut the sauerkraut into spoon-sized pieces. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large pot. Add the garlic and sauté for a few seconds. Deglaze with the canned tomatoes and stir through. Add the meat broth and the entire tube of tomato paste and bring to a boil. Season with salt, sugar, and pepper. Then puree the contents of the pot with an immersion blender. Add the finely chopped sauerkraut and simmer for about 15 minutes. Add Tabasco to taste (Tabasco works better than chili or cayenne pepper, but you can also use it as a substitute to spice things up).
