Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 450 g flour
  • 300 g butter
  • 170 g powdered sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • Jam (apricot or strawberry)

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 8 minutes

(from Grandma’s cookbook), makes about 50 pieces

For 50 biscuits, sift flour onto a baking board, along with the sugar and vanilla sugar. Add the cubed butter and egg yolks. Quickly knead everything into a dough and chill. Roll out and cut out round biscuits for the bottom half. Do the same for the top half, but with a large hole in the middle – i.e., matching rings! Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at 170°C (top/bottom heat) until light golden brown (about 8 minutes, but be careful with the rings!). Once cooled, spread the bottom half with jam, place the top half on top, and sprinkle lightly with sugar.
