Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg potatoes
- 100 g butter
- Salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
Peel the potatoes and grate them with a hash browner. Melt some butter in a frying pan, add the potatoes, season with salt, and fry for a few minutes without turning. Once the potatoes are slightly browned, turn them over and repeat the process. Then lightly press the potatoes into a “cake” shape in the pan, add a little butter, and cover the pan. Reduce the heat slightly. Fry the hash browns for about 15 minutes, then carefully turn them over, add a little more butter, and cover. After another 15 minutes, the hash browns are cooked. Serve them with a delicious pork sausage in onion sauce. Or, just before the end of the cooking time, place some raclette cheese on top of the hash browns and let it melt. A cheese hash brown is served with a green salad.
