Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g Lentils, Red
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 onion(s)
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 piece(s) fresh ginger (size like 2 garlic cloves)
- 2 chili peppers, green
- 1 tbsp clarified butter or ghee
- ½ tsp cumin (ground)
- 100 g yogurt
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Small meal with rice or as a side dish to fish and meat
Rinse and sort the lentils, then place them in a saucepan with the turmeric, salt, and 1 liter of water. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer gently, taking care not to let them become too soft (approx. 10 minutes). Peel the onion and garlic, peel the ginger, and finely dice. Deseed, rinse, and very finely dice the chili. Heat ghee or clarified butter in a wok or deep-sided frying pan. Sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger. Only when the onions are soft, add the chili and cumin. Drain the lentils and add them. Heat everything through, season to taste, and stir thoroughly. Serve in a bowl. Stir the yogurt until smooth, pour over the lentils, and serve hot.
