Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 orange(s), untreated

  • ½ stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 8 carnations
  • 8 figs, fresh

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Red wine glasses

Wash the orange and peel the zest with a vegetable peeler. Cut into thin strips. Squeeze out the juice and set aside. Melt the sugar in a slightly wider saucepan over medium heat until it turns light brown. Immediately add the red wine and cook until the sugar has dissolved. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, orange zest, and orange juice, and reduce the liquid by half. Meanwhile, wash and halve the figs (peel if desired). Add them to the liquid and let them steep for 5 minutes over low heat. Remove the pan from the heat and let the figs cool in the liquid. Tip: Vanilla or walnut ice cream goes particularly well with this!
