Red wine plums

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg plum(s)
  • 450 ml red wine
  • 200 g sugar, depending on the ripeness of the plums
  • 1 tsp, heaped cinnamon powder
  • 5 carnations
  • 3 tbsp rum

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Pit the plums and cut into bite-sized pieces. Bring to a boil in a large saucepan with the wine, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the rum right at the end, after removing the pan from the heat. While still hot, pour into boiled jars and let cool upside down. Delicious with chocolate ice cream, for example. This makes a very quick dessert once the plums have been cooked down.
