Renate’s Herring Tartare
The perfect renate’s herring tartare recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 6 piece Herring fillets
- 2 whole Diced onions
- 0,5 Diced cucumber
- 0,25 Diced pineapple
- 2 Apple diced to your own taste
- 2 medium sized Diced pickles
- 2 tbsp Chopped capers
- 1 bunch Chives fresh
- 1 bunch Frozen dill
- 1 bunch Parsely
- 0,5 tsp Hot paprika powder
- 1 tsp Mustard hot
- 1 piece Chopped ginger
- 1 tbsp Cognac
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Black pepper from the mill
- Peel the onions, cucumber, apples and pineapple and cut into small cubes.
- Dice the matjes fillets and pickles as well. Finely chop the chives, dill and parsley (frozen herbs can also be used).
- Peel the ginger tuber and cut or grate it very small.
- Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix with the spices.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- I recommend letting the tartar steep for about an hour so that the spices can develop.
- Tastes great with jacket potatoes or white bread.
