Replacing eggs in cakes: tips and tricks
Some foods work just as well as the egg in cake baking.
- Bananas are particularly suitable as a vegan alternative to eggs. A ripe banana always replaces an egg in the regular recipe. Up to four eggs can be replaced with the fruit in this way.
- Applesauce also serves as an egg alternative and, like bananas, has binding properties. You can equate about 75 milliliters with one egg. Up to three eggs can be replaced with applesauce.
- You can also bake your cake without eggs with pears, mango or pumpkin puree. The same quantity applies here as for applesauce.
Cake without an egg: How to make an egg substitute
Certain products are suitable for making an egg substitute and making your diet vegan.
- Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of water, two tablespoons of oil, and two tablespoons of flour. This mixture is ideal as an alternative to eggs in the cake.
- A mix of two tablespoons of soy flour and two tablespoons of water is also suitable for baking.
- You can also buy ready-made egg substitute products, but they are not always that cheap.
