Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g Harzer cheese or similar, e.g. Quäse
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp peppercorns, red
  • 1 dashes lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 5 minutes

or as a salad topping or for snacking, low carb and high in protein

Slice the cheese, finely dice the onion, and place both in a bowl. Roughly chop the bay leaf and add it with the remaining ingredients. Let it sit for a few hours, then remove the bay leaf pieces before serving. This topping tastes wonderful on black bread with quark, on its own, or in a salad. The cheese will keep well in the refrigerator for a few days if covered.
