with sausages, brown butter and cinnamon sugar

Peel the apples, cut them into pieces, and place them in a saucepan with the water and sugar. Cook over medium heat until apple compote forms. Stir occasionally; do not overcook. In a mixing bowl (preferably with a spout), combine the flour, eggs, baking powder, salt, and the milk-water mixture to form a thick batter. Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot. Drop the batter in teaspoon-sized portions, using one or two teaspoons, into the boiling salted water. When the dumplings float to the top, scoop them out with a slotted spoon and add them to the applesauce. Fry the sausages in a pan. Melt the butter and brown them. Serve the apple dumplings with brown butter and cinnamon sugar and the grilled sausages.
