Russian Applecake

The perfect russian applecake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the dough:

  • 250 g Butter
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 250 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa
  • 100 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 4 Apples
  • 2 tbsp Rum

For dusting:

  • Powdered sugar

For the dough:

  1. Put the butter, sugar and eggs in a mixing bowl and beat until frothy.
  2. Mix the flour and baking powder, sieve, add and stir.
  3. Add cinnamon, salt, cocoa and hazelnuts and stir in.
  4. Peel and core the apples and cut into small pieces.
  5. Pour the rum over the apples, then add the apples to the batter and fold in.
  6. Put the dough in a springform pan and smooth it out.
  7. Bake at 175 degrees for about 60 minutes.

For dusting:

  1. Sift some powdered sugar over the dough after it has cooled down.
