Saganaki – fried cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g cheese (Kasseri or Kefalotiri cheese, alternatively you can use Gruyère cheese or Parmesan)
  • 1 egg(s)
  • breadcrumbs
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 lemon(s), the juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Cut the cheese into 1 cm thick slices. Whisk the egg on a plate and heat the butter in a pan. Dip the cheese slices first in the egg, then in the breadcrumbs, and then fry until crispy brown on both sides. Serve on a warmed platter, drizzled with lemon juice. Serve with bread and salad.
