Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 eggs, including the egg whites, beaten to snow
  • 3 eggs, including the yolk
  • 3 tbsp sugar (granulated sugar)
  • 1 tbsp flour, strong (optional)
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 50 g butter
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gradually add the sugar at the end. Sprinkle the vanilla sugar and flour over the egg whites, whisk the (seven) egg yolks and pour them over the mixture, mixing very carefully. Grease an ovenproof dish with butter, pour in the milk (just moisten the base), cut large dumplings from the mixture, place them in the pan, and bake in a high oven (from 200°C) for about 8 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately, or they will collapse. Serve with icing sugar and whipped cream, if desired.
