  1. Australian-style sandwich with minced meat, tomato sauce, vegetables and cheese. Easy and quick leftover food – an inexpensive snack for the whole family.

The “grillage”, the minced meat in tomato sauce

  1. Sear the meat in a hot pan. Add tomato paste, briefly toast everything together.
  2. Deglaze with approx. 200 ml of water, add the soup cubes / beef stock and simmer on a low level for approx. 30 minutes while reducing.
  3. Mix in the herbs, season with salt and pepper.

  1. Halve the baguette, cut lengthways (do not cut through). Top each with mince, onion rings, tomato slices and cheese.
  2. If desired, add a sandwich sauce.

tip

  1. Prepare enough napkins!

Sandwich sauce

  1. As you can see in the photos, I used my “tarragon sauce”, but fresh yoghurt-garlic or herb sauces also go perfectly with this dish.
