Sauerkraut pizza

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 pack of yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 250 ml water
  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 large can of sauerkraut
  • 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

In a cup/bowl, mix the yeast with sugar until liquid (no water or anything else!). Put the flour in a large bowl; add the oil, water, and dissolved yeast. Then add the salt (and dried Italian/French herbs, if desired) and knead well. Let the dough double in size. Brown the ground beef with a little oil and stir well, then season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Drain the sauerkraut well in a sieve or squeeze it into a fresh tea towel. Preheat the oven to 225°C (425°F). Roll out the dough onto a baking sheet (greased or lined with parchment paper) and spread with tomato paste. Spread the ground beef and sauerkraut, pulling them apart a bit (otherwise, you’ll have sauerkraut “threads” lying around for a long time), sprinkle with cheese, and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy!
