Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slice(s) Leberkäse, thick
  • 8 tbsp sauerkraut, finely chopped from the barrel
  • 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 2 small onions
  • 300 g tomato ketchup
  • some water
  • Thyme

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Leberkäse filled with sauerkraut

Top each slice of Leberkäse with 2 tablespoons of shredded sauerkraut and sprinkle generously with thyme. Roll up the slices and secure with roulade pins or kitchen string. Sear them vigorously on all sides in hot oil. Add the peeled and finely diced onions and sear briefly. Add tomato ketchup and a little water, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Thicken the sauce slightly if desired. Serve with mashed potatoes and a fresh vegetable salad.
