sausage salad

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions, red
  • 1 red bell pepper(s)
  • 8 gherkins
  • 200 g mountain cheese, sliced, approx. 3 mm thick
  • 250 g sausage (mortadella), sliced, approx. 3 mm thick
  • 5 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp mustard, sweet
  • salt and pepper
  • chives
  • possibly croutons

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Sweet mustard dressing

Peel and halve the onions. Trim, wash, quarter, and deseed the bell pepper. Halve the cucumbers crosswise. Cut the prepared ingredients, along with the cheese and sausage, into 3-4 mm strips and place in a bowl. For the dressing, combine the vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper, then whisk in the oil vigorously. Cut the chives into small pieces and stir in. Mix the dressing with the remaining salad ingredients and let it sit for at least half an hour. We like the salad to sit for at least a day. Season to taste before serving. If you like, you can serve it with croutons, perhaps homemade ones made from pretzels. But it tastes fantastic on its own, too.
