Schaffhauser Onion Cake

  • 600 g Fresh onion
  • 240 g Bacon cubes
  • 2 Pc. Egg
  • 200 ml Cream
  • 200 ml Milk
  • Pepper Gourmet from my KB
  • Hot pepper
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • 220 g Flour
  • 100 g Margarine
  • 5 g Salt
  • 40 ml Oil
  • 90 ml Water
  1. Cake dough / quiche dough for a large, round 32cm tray either bought ready-made at Aldi / Lidl or homemade

  1. Grate the flour and margarine until crumbly, add water and salt and combine to form a dough (do not knead). Cover and put in a cool place. When the dough is really cool, roll out and place in the tray.
  2. Cut the onions into slices and sauté them in oil – remove and allow to cool
  3. Fry the bacon cubes in the same pan, remove them and let them cool down
  4. Spread the onions and diced bacon on the dough that has been dished
  5. Spread the pouring over it
  6. Bake the Schaffhausen onion cake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees
  7. Goes well with a wonderful salad or a light soup beforehand
