Schnitzel with mustard crust

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g schnitzel meat
  • 150g bacon
  • 400 g onion(s)
  • 1 cup crème fraîche
  • 6 tsp mustard, medium hot
  • some white wine
  • salt and pepper
  • Fat, for the pan

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 1 hour 5 minutes

Cut the meat and bacon into strips and the onions into rings. Place the bacon first, then the meat in a casserole dish. Sauté the onions until translucent. Add the wine, crème fraîche, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer slightly, then pour over the meat and let it rest in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Bake in the oven at 220°C for approximately 45-60 minutes. Serve with baguette and a green salad. Tip: Can also be prepared with poultry; in this case, the oven cooking time is approximately 30 minutes.
