Schwenker in paprika cheese sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork steaks (Schwenker – marinated neck steaks)
  • 3 bell peppers, mixed
  • 200 g herb cheese spread
  • 200 g whipped cream
  • some salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Pork neck steaks, simple, quick

Preheat oven to 180-200 degrees Celsius (350-400 degrees Fahrenheit). Wash, deseed, and thinly slice the bell peppers. Gently heat the cream in a saucepan, melt the cream cheese in it, and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Halve the Schwenker (smoked pork) and place the pieces in a casserole dish. Distribute the pepper strips over the meat and pour over the sauce. Bake in the oven for about 20-30 minutes. Serve with spaetzle (noodles). Tip: Outside of Saarland, Schwenker (smoked pork) may not always be available. In that case, you can of course also use pork or turkey schnitzel. The schnitzels should then be rubbed with salt, pepper, sweet paprika, and a little oil before cooking. This will reduce the cooking time somewhat. Instead of the classic Schwenker (smoked pork), we always use marinated pork loin steaks. They are leaner and only need 20 minutes in the oven.
