Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 gr. can/n corn, (480 g drained weight)
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds, brown
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 2 stalks of coriander, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp salt
  • some spice mix (garam masala)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Makki Chatpati

Place the corn in a sieve, rinse briefly, and let it drain. Finely chop the onion. Heat the oil in a pan. Fry the onion over medium heat until lightly browned. Add the bay leaves and mustard seeds and toast for about 2 minutes. Add the turmeric, chili powder, and the corn and fry for 3 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of water and simmer for another 5 minutes. Stir the salt and coriander into the corn. Remove the pan from the heat, cover, and let stand for about 5 minutes. Serve sprinkled with garam masala.
