The perfect shards recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 3 Pc. Eggs
  • 125 g Butter
  • 3 tbsp Rum
  • Lemon juice
  • Lemon zest
  • Frying fat (mainly vegetable fat)
  • Powdered sugar
  1. Make a kneading dough from the ingredients, except for the frying fat and powdered sugar. Then chill for approx. 1 hour. Roll out the dough very thinly and cut it into strips with a pastry cutter and deep-fry it for about 30 seconds, then turn it over with a fork. The shards must not get too dark. Then dust with powdered sugar.
