The above ingredients are sufficient for 2 cake bases or a small baking tray. Knead all ingredients together. General information: The shortcrust pastry base should be chilled for 1/2 to 1 hour before rolling out. Tip: Shortcrust pastry base can be frozen, so you can prepare larger quantities and then use a thawed shortcrust pastry base to quickly make a cake later. This dough can be used, for example, for all kinds of apple pie, plum cake (e.g., with crumble and almond slivers on top), cheesecake, Träubleskuchen (blackcurrant cake), rhubarb cake, etc. Ingredients for a large baking tray: Ingredients as above, but use 400g flour instead of 300g, and three eggs instead of two.
