Shrimp Kun Bao (Western World Style)

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200 g shrimp(s), frozen
  • 200 g vegetables (Chinese vegetables, e.g. bamboo shoots, soybeans, etc.)
  • 1 large red bell pepper(s)
  • 1 can peanuts
  • 1 stalk(s) leek
  • 100 ml orange juice
  • chili pepper(s)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp peanut oil
  • 200 g mixed mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Chinese spice, optional
  • 3 cm ginger
  • Soy sauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cut the bell peppers into strips and the leek into rings. Drain the mushrooms and Chinese vegetables. Finely chop the garlic, ginger, and chili. Heat the oil in a wok (or pan) and fry the chilies until hot. Add the peanuts, shrimp, and vegetables and fry. Deglaze with orange juice. Add the mushrooms, garlic, and ginger and sauté over medium heat. Season to taste with soy sauce, sugar, salt, and other spices, if desired. Aim for a sweet chili flavor. Serve with rice as a side dish.
