Sour Beets
The perfect sour beets recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 700 g Sour beets – available from the butcher
- 400 g Cured pork belly or
- Lean salt meat
- Bay leaf and carnation
- 6 Potatoes from the previous day
- Salt
- Oil
- Take the beets out of the package and put them in a saucepan, add a little water so that they are barely covered. Now the beets are boiled for about 30 minutes, so that they still have a light bite … try in between so that they don’t get too soft. If the beets are too sour, pour off some of the first boiling water and add some fresh water.
- In the meantime, put the salted meat or the belly in a pressure cooker, cover with water and add the clove and bay leaf. Close the pressure cooker and cook the meat for about 30 minutes. cook …….. maybe a little more or less depending on the pot !!
- Peel the potatoes, cut into slices and fry in oil.
- When everything is done, place it on a plate and enjoy …… we love this hearty meal very much.
