Sour Beets

The perfect sour beets recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 700 g Sour beets – available from the butcher
  • 400 g Cured pork belly or
  • Lean salt meat
  • Bay leaf and carnation
  • 6 Potatoes from the previous day
  • Salt
  • Oil
  1. Take the beets out of the package and put them in a saucepan, add a little water so that they are barely covered. Now the beets are boiled for about 30 minutes, so that they still have a light bite … try in between so that they don’t get too soft. If the beets are too sour, pour off some of the first boiling water and add some fresh water.
  2. In the meantime, put the salted meat or the belly in a pressure cooker, cover with water and add the clove and bay leaf. Close the pressure cooker and cook the meat for about 30 minutes. cook …….. maybe a little more or less depending on the pot !!
  3. Peel the potatoes, cut into slices and fry in oil.
  4. When everything is done, place it on a plate and enjoy …… we love this hearty meal very much.
