Sour eggs, regionally also "lost eggs"

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vinegar essence
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ bunch of dill

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Tastes much better than it looks. And costs almost nothing!

Melt the butter in a saucepan that’s not too narrow (the eggs should fit loosely next to each other), add the flour, and make a light roux. Pour in the milk and bring to a boil. Only when it starts to bubble do you add the vinegar and stir quickly. Add the salt, sugar, and finely chopped dill. Crack the eggs into the pan one at a time and drop them into the pan. Cover and let the eggs simmer for 6 minutes over a low heat. This is delicious with boiled potatoes.
