Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg pork goulash
- 1 jar applesauce with pieces
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 onion(s), roughly diced
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper
- ½ jar applesauce
- Sauce thickener, dark
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
Dutch Zuurvlees
Combine all ingredients except the sauce thickener in a covered roasting pan. Place in an oven preheated to 180°C for about an hour. When the meat is cooked, remove the bay leaf. Season with salt and pepper and thicken with the sauce thickener. French fries are a traditional Dutch accompaniment. We usually eat the Zuurflees with dumplings or spaetzle.
