Soy pan-fried gyros

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 150 g soy strips
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 tsp vegetable broth
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch(s) black pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) of oregano
  • 1 pinch of garlic powder
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Bring the soy strips to a boil with the water and vegetable stock in a small saucepan. The strips will absorb the water. If there is no water left in the pan but the strips are not yet tender, add a little more water. However, there should be no water left in the pan once the pieces are tender enough. Heat a pan with oil. Add the strips and fry, turning occasionally. Add a little more oil frequently to prevent burning. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder. Continue frying briefly over low heat. Tastes delicious with coleslaw, tzatziki, and flatbread. Tip: A gyro spice mix from an oriental supermarket also works.
