Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g ham or ham cubes
  • 400g spaghetti
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil or olive oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 5 tbsp cream
  • 5 tbsp Parmesan
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

very easy and perfect for beginners

Boil the pasta water and add salt. If using ham, cut it into short strips first. Mix the eggs, cream, and Parmesan cheese together well in a bowl. When the pasta water is boiling, add the spaghetti to the pot. While the pasta is cooking, heat the oil in a pan and fry the ham until browned. Add the cooked ham to the mixed sauce, stir again, and add salt. Drain the cooked pasta and immediately return it to the pot. Turn off the stovetop or, if using gas, reduce the heat to low. Add the sauce to the pot and mix everything well. Sprinkle pepper, preferably freshly ground, over the finished dish. Spaghetti carbonara is best when the eggs have only set briefly in the sauce. So please don’t heat the pasta and sauce for too long, or it will become too dry!
