Spätzle and salsify casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g spaetzle
  • 320 g salsify
  • 150 g ham
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 g flour
  • 200 ml vegetable stock
  • 200 ml juice, collected
  • 200 g processed cheese, (herb)
  • n. B. Spice(s), pepper, fondor, paprika powder
  • 100 g cheese, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

with ham

Drain the salsify and reserve the juice. Finely chop the ham. Place the spaetzle in a baking dish and scatter the salsify and ham over the top. Heat the butter, sauté the flour, and add the vegetable stock and salsify juice, stirring constantly. Then add the processed cheese, season to taste, and simmer briefly. Pour the cheese sauce over the spaetzle mixture and sprinkle with cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown.
