Spelt buttermilk bread

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml buttermilk or yogurt, 1.5% fat
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp syrup, black, alternatively sugar
  • 450 g spelt flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

without yeast – without rising

Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Slowly add the buttermilk and mix everything into a dough that’s still soft but not too firm. Line a loaf pan with baking paper and pour the dough into it. Tip: Hold the baking paper under hot water to make it easier to handle and fit into the pan. Bake the bread in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 45 minutes. Then let the bread cool—it’s also delicious warm with butter.
