Spicy Carrot Cake

The perfect spicy carrot cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 180 g Raw cane sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 0,25 tsp Clove powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 100 ml Sunflower oil
  • 200 g Turkish yogurt 10%
  • 1 Vanilla pod, the pulp
  • 75 g Grated carrots
  • 150 g Powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  1. Put the flour together with the sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, clove powder and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Put the oil, yoghurt and vanilla pulp in a large bowl and stir well, then add the grated carrots and mix in. Now add the flour mixture in 3 parts to the yogurt mixture and stir -. please do not use the mixer or any other electrical device. And only stir in until the ingredients have just mixed.
  3. Grease a springform pan with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Now put the dough in the mold and smooth it out and bake for 35 – 45 minutes – stick test. Then let it cool down in the mold for about 15 minutes and then take it out of the mold and let it cool down completely.
  4. Mix the icing sugar and lemon juice and pour over the cake – if you like, you can add some food coloring to the icing, just like me.
