Spicy cherry liqueur

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g morello cherries
  • 250 g sugar
  • ½ stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 9 almonds
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 125 ml water
  • 1 bottle of vodka

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash the cherries, drain them, and pit them. Pour into a wide-mouth bottle. Add the spices and almonds and pour over the vodka. Let the liqueur mature in a dark, moderately warm place for about four weeks. Then strain it through a filter. Boil the water and sugar until syrupy. Stir in the sugar syrup thoroughly, then let the cherry liqueur rest for a while.
